Langi Shiraz 2009

Outstanding vivid crimson-purple; the perfumed bouquet is exquisite, with red and black fruits in a swathe of violets and rose petals, then a supremely elegant and intense palate, the finish exceptionally long. Clearly should have won the Jimmy Watson Trophy '10. Due for release towards the end of '11; 650 dozen made. Screwcap. 14% alc. Rating 97 To 2030 $95

Langi Shiraz 2008

Purple-crimson; a fragrant, almost floral, bouquet, its multi-spice and cracked pepper overtones setting the scene for its elegant medium-bodied palate, blackberry and a touch of raspberry fruit at its core. Screwcap. 14.5% alc. Rating 96 To 2023 $95

Riesling 2010

Quartz-green; a wine that achieves weight and complexity without losing finesse and length; lime and apple blossom aromas are replayed on the palate, which has great length and balance; drink whenever you feel like it. Screwcap. 12% alc. Rating 94 To 2020 $30

Cliff Edge Shiraz 2008

Typical Mount Langi crimson colour; a deliciously complex wine, the bouquet and palate singing the same song, with a precocious display of spice and black pepper the soprano, rich plummy/velvety fruit the bass. Screwcap. 14.5% alc. Rating 94 To 2023 $30

Cliff Edge Riesling 2010

Pale quartz-green; lime, lemon, apple and pear aromas and flavours run through the bouquet and long palate alike; the finish isn't as incisive as that of its sibling. Screwcap. alc. Rating 93 To 2020 $25

Best Australian Wines 2011

2006 Mount Langi Ghiran 'Langi' Shiraz

One of the leading lights in Australia, Mount Langi is a superstar estate with visionary winemaking in
the glorious form of Dan Buckle. This is one wine to serve blind when pouring ultimate Shirazes for your
Mensan pals. I can guarantee amazement when the label is revealed because Langi captures everything
that is raw and real about the soil in which it is grown and that alone is too thrilling to describe in words
- so the wine has to do it for me such is its elemental force.

THE AGE/SYDNEY MORNING HERALD
GOOD WINE GUIDE 2011

MOUNT LANGI GHIRAN - 2008 LANGI SHIRAZ

BEST SHIRAZ & WINE OF THE YEAR

“A much-anticipated vintage that doesn’t let an ounce of expectation go to
waste, this continues the wine’s upward trajectory with conviction. Plenty of
depth from these old (45 years) vines: dark-roasted spices, pepper, essence
of plums, blackberry, orange rind, cola, fine mineral flecks, some meaty edges
and more - complex and soulful. The palate’s immaculate and dripping with
deep-wrapped fruit concentrati on: more plums and blackberries, deeply dug
fine tannins, and a bracing finish that leaves a lingering, toasty plum and black
cherry-stone flavour on point for what seems like an eternity. You’ll taste it for
a few minutes and think about it for days, maybe weeks. A new level has been
defined.”

Langi Shiraz 2007
Near-identical deep crimson colour to all six releases; has the multi-layered flavours promised by the bouquet, and more texture from the fine, ripe tannins which run through the medium- to full-bodied palate and lingering aftertaste. Screwcap.
14.5% alc. Rating 96 Drink 2022 Release Price $75 Date Tasted Dec 08

Riesling 2009

A wolf in sheep's clothing: the alcohol prepares you for a Mosel Kabinett style with significant fruit sweetness, but in fact it is barely off-dry, driven by its crystalline acidity on a feather-light palate, lime making a curtain call at the end. Screwcap.
10% alc. Rating 95 Drink 2020 $35 Date Tasted Feb 10

Langi Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Colour development attests to a wine starting to show its wares through a spicy, red-fruited bouquet then a silky palate which lifts on the finish and aftertaste; oak and tannins perfectly judged. Screwcap.
15% alc. Rating 95 Drink 2025 $50 Date Tasted Sep 09

Bradach Vineyard Pinot Noir 2008

From a small, single very cool vineyard in the Moyston area; a skilfully made wine with gently spicy red and black fruits on a supple palate; good line and length. Screwcap.
12% alc. Rating 94 Drink 2018 $40 Date Tasted Aug 09

Cliff Edge Riesling 2009

So beautifully balanced in its mouthfeel, it's easy to overlook the inherent complexity; apple, lime, pear and mineral all take turns to strut their stuff, the finish long and complete. Screwcap.
11.5% alc. Rating 94 Drink 2020 $25 Date Tasted Feb 10

Billi Billi Shiraz 2008

Highly perfumed red and blue fruit bouquet, with orange and cinnamon playing a pivotal role; the palate is fresh, lovely and lithe, with the spice coming to the fore on the medium-bodied finish. Screwcap.
14.5% alc. Rating 92 Drink 2020 $18 Date Tasted Feb 10
