Sourced from a single vineyard in Rhymney, 40 minutes’ drive from Mount Langi Ghiran, the 2016 Bradach Pinot Noir marks the 9th vintage of this wine and the 3rd under our Spinoff range.
Pinot Noir (100%)
Great Western, Grampians
The 2015/2016 growing season was cumulatively warmer than average, so vintage came early with the Pinot Noir being picked almost three weeks earlier than previous years. Despite this, the quality of the fruit was impeccable.
Silky and ethereal Pinot Noir with captivating perfume. Fresh and vibrant red fruits gambol across the palate, layered with savoury spice and chewy tannins.
Grapes are sorted and harvested by hand, with 60% whole bunch fermented. By leaving the fruit intact, the berries begin their fermentation internally, producing floral and perfumed aromas, adding character and finesse. In keeping with Burgundian tradition, we begin crushing the fruit by foot, a process the French call pigeage. This is where the influence of the stems comes into play adding depth and lushness to the structure of the wine. Fermentation is then completed in barrel and the finished wine matured in oak for 12 months before one gentle racking. This wine was bottled without filtration.
The result is a silky and ethereal Pinot Noir with captivating perfume. Fresh and vibrant red fruits gambol across the palate, layered with savoury spice and chewy tannins.
Cellar up to 10 years.
