We are proud to present our 2021 Halliday Wine Companion results. We were again awarded a 5 Red Star winery rating along with incredible scores. Congratulations to our dedicated winemaking and viticulture team Adam Louder, Damien Sheehan and Darren Rathbone.

99 points | 2018 Langi Shiraz | SHOP

Handpicked, wild-fermented with 80% whole bunches and 20% whole berries, 2-3 weeks on skins, matured for 18 months in French barriques (18% new), 280 dozen made. Wonderfully, tumultuously intense yet balanced; black licorice and herbal/foresty nuances all in play.

96 points | 2018 Mast Shiraz | SHOP

The late Trevor Mast was the founder of Mount Langi Ghiran and for so long its sole winemaker. Many things have changed since then, all good. Open-fermented with 65% whole bunches, 35% whole berries, pressed to French barriques (none new). The absence of new oak has not diminished it in any way, a simple recognition that Trevor Mast’s financial constraints meant little money for oak.

96 points | 2018 Talus Shiraz | SHOP

A blend of some of the best parcels from the Mount Langi Ghiran property; 80% hand-picked, open-fermented with 75% whole berries/25% whole bunches, matured for 18 months in French barriques (25% new), 600 dozen made. If you didn’t know otherwise, you might think red fruits have joined the black, or viognier or raspberries (wild or cultivated).

96 points | 2018 Cliff Edge Shiraz | SHOP

Was 50% hand-picked, 50% machine-harvested (traditional), part whole berry, part crushed, 2 weeks on skins with cultured yeast, 14 months in French barriques (30% new). The Grampians at its most seductive. Medium bodied with supple dark fruits, licorice, spice and soft tannins.

95 points | 2018 Cliff Edge Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot | Not yet released | SHOP 2017

A 79/21% blend, both varieties hand-picked, whole berries in small open fermenters, 3 weeks on skins, matured for 18 months in French barriques (30% new). High quality fruit and attention to detail.

93 points | 2017 Billi Billi Shiraz | SHOP

The fragrant, floral red fruits and spice and pepper on the bouquet are joined by black pepper and licorice on the palate. Hard to resist at this price, very hard. No patience is required, it is ready now.

92 points | Talus Riesling | SHOP

Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, two tank ferments with different yeasts fermented to dryness. Pretty wine/lovely al fresco drink, but I expected more.

92 points | 2019 Cliff Edge Riesling | SHOP

From vines planted ’76, 30% hand-picked, 70% machine-harvested, a long, cool fermentation. Just a (deliberate) touch of residual sugar.

91 points | 2019 Cliff Edge Pinot Gris | Sold Out | SHOP 2020

Barrel fermentation in part or whole. A complex wine, both in terms of flavour and texture. It can be (favourably) compared to marsanne if it (marsanne) is similarly treated.

91 points | 2019 Billi Billi Pinot Gris | Sold Out | SHOP 2020

Lively and bright citrus and pear. Fresh as a daisy. Very smart wine.
