2017 Talus Shiraz
Our vineyard lies peacefully nestled in the arms of its namesake, the 400-million-year-old granite massif; Mount Langi Ghiran. Over time, the forces of Mother Nature have cast rock fragments to the base of the mountain creating a formation we know as talus. The Talus range is an expression of the unique soils at Mount Langi Ghiran, reflecting our intimate knowledge of vine, soil and mountain. The 2019 Talus Shiraz showcases complex tannins and elegant dark fruit as a result of our aged vines and Grampians cool climate.

Fermentation method: Small open top fermenters. 90% Whole berry, 10% whole bunch. A mixture of plunging and pump-overs were used during fermentation. An average of 2-3 weeks total time on skins. Natural yeasts were used, and once ferment was complete the wines were pressed to tank to settle overnight and then transferred to barrels to complete MLF. |

90% whole bunches and an increase in new oak this year, brings an immediate firmer tannic structure together than the ‘18, with the noted presence of vanillan oak. Impenetrable purple in colour. Boasts a solid, oak-framed introduction of deep dark berries, spice, pepper, tilled earth and bitumen. The palate is quite chewy, the tannins dense and drying. Make this wine a keeper.
