2023 Talus Shiraz

Nestled in the foothills of the 400-million-year-old granite massif is Mount Langi Ghiran. Over time, the forces of Mother Nature have cast rock fragments to the base of the mountain creating a formation we know as Talus.
The Talus range is an expression of the unique soils at Mount Langi Ghiran, reflecting our intimate knowledge of vine, soil and mountain. The 2022 Talus Shiraz showcases an elegant tannin structure, with thyme and rosemary peeking through the concentrated berry flavours.

A beautiful, almost perfect, growing season was followed by a distinct lack of sunshine post veraison. Humidity, bird pressure and lack of dry weather and sun made 2022 a tougher than usual vintage. Our reds crawled to the finish line in terms of ripeness – seeing us still picking in early May. However, what this created is spice – and plenty of it - in those later picked reds. Bright berry flavours and mixed spices are the hallmarks of Shiraz from this vintage. |

Dark red and bright in the glass. Fragrant and lifted aromas of blueberry, Asian spice, white pepper, sarsaparilla, bramble and dark cherry. Juicy, bright, blue fruited and focused in flavour. There’s a core of blue fruits, spice and nutty oak, all held together by some snappy acidity and textured, granular tannins. Lovely purity, poise and length.
