Shiraz (100%)
2024
Grampians, Victoria
2024 was a classic Mount Langi Ghiran vintage, one of the finest in recent years. Warm days and cool nights delivered a harmonious balance between flavour and acid, while the long, even ripening period produced exceptional colour, fine tannins and vibrant aromatics — hallmarks of Langi’s cool-climate style.

Tasting Notes

Medium-to-deep purple
Blackberry, black cherry and wild raspberries with hints of white pepper and violets
Balance of good fruit and acid drive, dark fruit dominant with loganberry making an appearance. Fine tannins linger, integrated toasty oak and a long finish.

Medium deep crimson. Expressive and aromatic dark berry, chinotto, leafy aromas with hints of capsicum. Smooth and generous with primary dark and red berry fruits on the palate with some marzipan, roasted almond notes. Underlying sinuous textures build up to a fine claret-like finish. Very good volume, definition and vigour. Lovely to drink but should hold up well. (To be released in June 2026). Drink now – 2032. 14.5% alc.

Deep, bright purple-red colour with a sweetly spicy and herbal bouquet which is highly aromatic and attractive. The palate is tightly composed and tensioned, with good intensity and piercing line and length. A firm and elegant cool-climate style of shiraz with loads of spice - white pepper leading the chorus. A delicious shiraz that is best served with food while young and will drink well for several years.

Whole-berry ferments in small and large concrete open-top fermenters, seven to 10 days on skins, 18 months' maturation in French barriques (25% new). Signature pepper isn't always guaranteed, but when it's noted in Grampians shiraz, as it is here, it certainly gets the pulse racing. It's an integrated spice note, in no way aggressive, lifting ripe black berries, cassis, licorice, Aussie bush notes, so beautifully delivered, along with fine-grained tannins and a brightness of acidity. Effortless balance.
