FIRST LOOK: LANGI LABEL EVOLUTION

Published on: 17th July 2026

For decades, Mount Langi Ghiran’s labels have been a familiar sight for wine drinkers, reflecting the history of a vineyard that has earned a reputation as one of Australia’s leading cool-climate Shiraz producers. Soon you’ll start to see a new look flowing through wherever you purchase your Langi wines. This label evolution has been carefully considered to maintain the legacy of our wines, while differentiating the story behind each tier, enhancing the connection to place, and reinvigorating our collection.

Currently, our portfolio of wines has a strong, recognisable identity across all tiers; however, there was an opportunity to better tie the story together and differentiate our ranges more clearly.  The refresh improves clarity across the ranges, helping each tier express its place within the portfolio and its unique story. Another piece that was missing was the connection to our site. Situated at the end of the Great Dividing Range between Mount Langi Ghiran and Mount Cole, our terroir is incredibly unique, a fact that was not portrayed to its full extent on the current labels. The iconic white and blue colour palette is a consistent nod to our cool-climate heritage and has been maintained across the new-look labels.

A key part of the process was looking back in order to look forward. Working alongside General Manager and Viticulturist Damien Sheehan, who has been part of Mount Langi Ghiran for more than 30 years, the team explored historic labels from the winery’s collection to uncover the design cues that have endured across generations of Langi wines. The refreshed labels draw on that heritage while presenting it in a more contemporary way, creating a portfolio that feels unmistakably Mount Langi Ghiran, both on shelf today and alongside wines from decades past.

Read on to explore your favourites.

BILLI BILLI

Sourced from a selection of premium cool-climate vineyards throughout Victoria, predominantly the Grampians, including a portion from the Mount Langi Ghiran vineyards, this tier represents a fantastic introduction to the world of Mount Langi Ghiran.

Drawing on the land as a unifying thread across the Mount Langi Ghiran portfolio, the new Billi Billi label introduces a pattern inspired by the granite fragments found throughout our vineyard soils. It provides a stronger connection to place and reflects one of the defining features of the site from which our wines are grown. The established varietal colour palette has been retained, maintaining familiarity for existing drinkers while bringing a more contemporary feel to the range.

CLIFF EDGE

Sourced from a selection of blocks across our vineyard in the Grampians, Victoria, the Cliff Edge range is our expression of the intensity, purity and finesse made possible by the cool climate, historic vines and granite soils of Mount Langi Ghiran.

Cliff Edge has always been unmistakably Mount Langi Ghiran, with its white label and classic blue-and-silver logo strip. The refreshed design retains these recognisable elements while introducing a mountain motif inspired by Mount Langi Ghiran and typography influenced by heritage labels from our museum. The result is a more contemporary and premium expression of Cliff Edge that strengthens its connection to place, while remaining true to the heritage and character of the range.

TALUS

Talus takes its name from the granite rock fragments that sit at the base of a mountain slope. At Mount Langi Ghiran, these ancient granite soils are a defining feature of the vineyard and play an important role in shaping the elegance, structure and character of the wines.

As the range most closely linked to our unique site, the refreshed Talus label places this story front and centre. It retains the key design elements that connect it to the wider Mount Langi Ghiran portfolio, including the mountain motif and classic logo, while introducing an explanation of the meaning and significance of Talus. The result is a label with a stronger sense of place, a clearer expression of the range’s premium position and a deeper connection to the vineyard from which it comes.

MAST

A tribute to the late Trevor Mast, this single-vineyard wine is crafted from House Block 4, one of our coolest blocks and a favourite of Trevor’s. Mast Shiraz is shaped by low-yielding vines, long ripening seasons and meticulous small-batch winemaking, resulting in a finely structured expression that honours one of Australia’s pioneers of cool-climate Shiraz.

As a wine with a deep connection to Mount Langi Ghiran’s history, the Mast label demanded a careful approach. The refresh retains the restraint and simplicity that have long defined the range, while giving greater prominence to the story behind the wine. A tribute to Trevor Mast now appears on the front label for the first time, alongside the mountain motif and classic Mount Langi Ghiran branding that connect it to the broader portfolio. A new HB4 device has also been introduced as a reference to House Block 4, highlighting the single-vineyard origin of the wine and providing a clearer expression of its provenance.

This wine will be released in its new label this September, so stay tuned.
